Welsh Bafta Award Winner Composer John Rea

Recent news ; John is putting the finishing touches to his score for 'Tribal Genius' for BBC 2. the series features Griff Rhys Jones, as he discoveres the cultural significance of indigenous art from India, the Pacific Islands & West Africa. John has collaborated with Sikh singer Bobby Singh & members of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Watch this space for broadcast dates.
Some background :
Educated at Cardiff University and achieved a M.Mus in composition. John began his early career sessioning and arranging for Dave Stewart’s Anxious Records, which quickly developed into a career as a composer.
His unique approach has earned him great acclaim in recent years, including two BAFTA awards in the Best Original Music category; finalist in London International Advertising Awards and a STERMA Best Production Awards for his KPM album “Art Music and the Minimal”.
He has been chosen as lead composer and music supervisor for a slate of independent features being produced by a Cardiff based film and television production company.
John enjoys experimenting with both traditional instrumentation and studio technology and composes the majority of his work from his studio in Cardiff.
In April 2009, John Rea founded the Machinerooms recording studio for commercial use.
