Machinerooms is a ‘state of the art’ recording studio within a renowned media hub in Cardiff. Launched in 2009 and designed to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for recording, production & composition, to a wide range of media & music clients. The complex also houses ITV Wales Independent film and animation companies.

Recording
Machinerooms offers an affordable bespoke recording service that can be tailored to your musical needs, guided by a highly experienced, friendly team of composers, producers, arrangers and engineers, such as Richard Jackson (The Automatic, Witchita Records), Steve Davis (The Manic Street Preachers), & John Rea (John Cale, Charlotte Church, Mel C etc.)
The studio combines the best in traditional, and modern recording techniques and we aim to make the recording process a enjoyable and as comfortable for our clients as possible, so have a look through our studio photos, for the technically-inclined, we've prepared a list of our recording studio equipment for you to check out.
Composition
Machinerooms is home to John Rea, a highly experienced composer and arranger, whose work can be heard on concert platform, film, TV & almost anywhere you care to look, or indeed, listen!
His skills as an arranger & conductor have led to collaborations with John Cale (Velvet Underground), Charlotte Church, Mel C, Dave Stewart (Anxious Records) to name but a few & awards incude 2 BAFTA Wales Awards in the Best Original Music category (as well as several nominations), and a STEMRA Award for his KPM/EMI album 'Art Music & The Minimal'.
John's approach to music making embraces the conventional alongside the unvonventional - turntablists working alongside orchestras, opera singers alongside electronica - whatever the brief demands.
